Dorina Böczögő (born February 15, 1992 in Orosháza) is a Hungarian artistic gymnast that competed at the 2008 Summer Olympics and 2012 Summer Olympics.[3] She is a three-time gold medalist in the World Cup series.[4]

Career

2007-2008

Böczögő competed at the 2007 World Championships where she finished 51st in the all-around with a total score of 55.150.[5] As one of the top 9 athletes from a country that had not qualified through team placement, she qualified for the 2008 Summer Olympics. At the 2008 Summer Olympics, Böczögő finished 52nd in the all-around with a total score of 54.450.[6] She finished 12th on vault, and was just 0.013 away from being a reserve for the vault final.[7] Earlier that year, she competed at the European Championships in Clermont-Ferrand where the Hungarian team finished in thirteenth.[8] She finished seventeenth in the all-around with a 53.300.[9]

Böczögő began competing at the World Cup series in 2008. The first was the Doha World Cup in March where she placed fourth on vault.[10] In April, she competed at the Maribor World Cup and finished eighth on vault.[11] In May, she finished seventh on vault at the Tianjin World Cup.[12] The first medal Böczögő won in the World Cup series was a bronze on vault at the Szombathely World Cup on October 4, 2008.[13] She also finished fifth on bars at that event.[14] Böczögő won her first World Cup gold later that month by scoring a 13.675 on vault at the Glasgow World Cup.[15] She also finished fourth on beam and floor.[16] She once again won gold on vault at the Ostrava World Cup.[17] She also won a silver medal on floor with a 14.200 which was only 0.050 behind gold medalist Jiang Yuyuan from China.[18] These results qualified Böczögő for the 2008 World Cup final on vault where she finished fifth.[19]

2009-2011

Böczögő won the 2009 Hungarian national all-around title with a 55.700 - over 3.500 points better that second place Laura Gombás.[20] She won the national titles on vault, uneven bars, and balance beam, and she won silver on floor behind Tünde Csillag.[21] In November, she competed at the Osijek World Cup where she finished seventh on vault, fifth on uneven bars, and sixth on floor.[22] At the 2009 World Championships, Böczögő finished thirtieth in the all-around qualification with a 51.750.[23]

In 2010, Böczögő competed on vault, uneven bars, and floor at the European Championships to help the Hungarian team finish twelfth.[24] In September, she competed at the Ghent World Cup finishing fifth on uneven bars and seventh on floor.[25]

2012

She competed at the 2012 Artistics Gymnastics Olympic Test Event where she and Laura Gombás both qualified spots for Hungary at the 2012 Summer Olympics. However, only one of these gymnasts was allowed to compete, and the NOC decided to send Böczögő.[26] At the 2012 Summer Olympics, Böczögő finished 49th in the all-around with a 50.599.[27]
