Summary
Official seal for Kent State University in Kent, Ohio, United States. It was introduced in November 1964 (Daily Kent Stater, November 20, 1964) and formally adopted in January 1965. A brief article in the September 26, 1968 edition of the Daily Kent Stater states: "The design incorporates a blue shield, suggestive of Ohio's geographic shape, a golden sunburst, ancient symbol of the light of knowledge and wisdom, and a blue swift in flight, symbolizing constantly moving leadership."
