Jamame (Somali: Jamaame, Arabic: جمامة), also spelled Giamame, is a town in the southern Lower Juba (Jubbada Hoose) region of Somalia.
Overview
Jamame is situated between the Indian Ocean in the east, the agricultural land along the Jubba River in the west, and the port city of Kismayo in the south.
It is the center of the Jamame District.
Demographics
Jamame has a population of around 224,700 inhabitants.[1]
The town is inhabited by Bimal Somali clan. There are also residents from the Bantu ethnic minority group, who live and work as farmers along the Jubba river.[2]
