The 2009 edition of the K League is the twenty-seventh since its establishment in 1983. The 2009 season is known as 2009 K-League because the competition's sponsorship deal is failed.
Suwon Samsung Bluewings are the defending champions, having won their fourth title. The season began on March 7, 2009. A total of 15 teams contest the league, including newly formed Gangwon FC.
