Kurzgesagt - In a Nutshell (previously Kurzgesagt) is a Munich-based YouTube channel producing animated educational videos. First founded by Phillipp Dettmer in 2013, the channel has now amassed over 2 million subscribers. Their videos are uploaded around once a month and revolve around different political, philosophical and scientific subjects such as the Big Bang and the Refugee Crisis. Their videos also usually contain ducks and many references to pop culture, such as references to Doctor Who and Pokémon. Kurzgesagt uses a visual format of presenting information, such as color-coding immune system cells to show their functions.
The name derives from the German kurz gesagt, meaning 'in brief' or 'in a nutshell'.[2]
