EPAM Systems, Inc. (NYSEEPAM), also known as EPAM, is a global provider of software engineering and IT consulting services headquartered in Newtown, PA, USA. The company has software development centers and branch offices in North America, Europe, Asia and Australia.

History

The company was founded as EPAM by Belarus natives Arkadiy Dobkin in Princeton, NJ, and Leo Lozner in Minsk, Belarus in 1993[1] and incorporated as EPAM Systems on December 18, 2002.[2] Since then, the company has grown to approximately 14,109 tech employees.[3]

On January 24, 2012, EPAM announced the launch of an IPO on the New York Stock Exchange under the ticker EPAM.[4] This is the first IPO that comes from the outsourcing industry in Eastern Europe.[5]

In 2012, EPAM acquired Empathy Lab, a Conshohocken-based digital strategy and omni-channel UXD company,[6] and Thoughtcorp, an IT consultancy and software engineering firm from Toronto, Canada.[7]

In 2014, EPAM acquired Netsoft USA, a New York-based healthcare technology consulting firm,[8] Jointech, a Hong Kong-based strategic technology services provider,[9] Great Fridays, a Manchester, UK-based product and service design group,[10] and GGA Software Services, a US-based provider of scientific informatics services.[11]

In 2015, EPAM acquired NavigationArts, a DC-based digital strategy and experience design firm[12] and Alliance Global Services, a Conshohocken-based software product development services and test automation solutions firm.[13]

EPAM Systems has been mentioned among the fastest growing technology companies in North America and worldwide.[14][15]

In 2013, EPAM Systems was ranked #6 on Forbes’ list of America’s 25 Fastest-Growing Tech Companies[16] and #2 on Forbes’ list of America’s Best Small Companies: 20 Fast-Growing Tech Stars.[17]

In 2014, the company was ranked #3 on Forbes’ list of America’s Best Small Companies[18] and was included in the Deloitte’s 2014 Technology Fast 500™ ranking, a list of the fastest growing companies in North America.[19]
