The 2016 Brunei Super League (also known as the DST Super League for sponsorship reasons) is the 4th season of the Brunei Super League, the top Bruneian professional league for association football clubs, since its establishment in 2012. The season began on 12 March 2016, and is scheduled to conclude in late 2016.[2]
MS ABDB came into the season as defending champions of the 2015 season. Kota Ranger and Kasuka entered as the two promoted teams from the Premier League.[2]
Teams
A total of 10 teams will participate in the 2016 Super League season, eight from the previous season and two promoted teams. Kota Ranger were promoted as champions of the country's second tier while Kasuka were also promoted, that's despite finishing outside the top two places in third but as Tabuan Muda B (Brunei U18s) finished second and are ineligible for promotion, it was awarded to Kasuka instead. Kota Ranger and Kasuka replaced IKLS and Kilanas who were relegated in 2015.[2]

- ↑ Match abandoned on 43 minutes at 0–0 following disagreements with a refereeing decision. The incident occurred just before the half-time whistle blew when Kasuka's Afindi Yati Tuah laid on the pitch at the Kompleks Sukan Berakas after being challenged by Indera's Sahrin Momin. The referee then approached the two players and sent off a different Indera player, Hardi Bujang – the decision sparked heated exchanges between the players and match officials. Sahrin, who was left dissatisfied with the referee’s decision tried to make his way to the referee in rage before being restrained by teammate Pg Shahruddin Pg Hj Md Tejuddin. Frustrations between the two teams loomed and the incident then provoked a disruption amongst Indera’s supporters who called for a proper decision from the match officials. The decision to call off the match was then made by the referee who was concerned with his and the other match officials' safety, 15 minutes after both teams were led back into their respective changing rooms. The National Football Association of Brunei Darussalam has confirmed that the match will be rescheduled in due time and the incident will be under investigation by the governing body’s tournament department.[8]

The Brunei Times reported on 8 April 2016 that the National Football Association of Brunei Darussalam fined both Indera and Kasuka for each team's actions in the abandoned match on 27 March 2016, The Brunei Times article states that if the two teams fail to pay the fine they would be banned for two further matches. Although unknown, it is possible that Jerudong vs Kasuka (03/04), Indera vs. Lun Bawang (03/04), MS PDB vs. Kasuka (09/04) and Wijaya vs. Indera (10/04) were postponed due to fines not being paid. If so, that would mean these aforementioned games were to be awarded victories for the opposing teams.
