The 2017 Birmingham Bowl is a college football bowl game scheduled to be played on December 23, 2017 at Legion Field in Birmingham, Alabama, United States. The twelfth edition of the Birmingham Bowl will feature the Texas Tech Red Raiders of the Big 12 Conference against the South Florida Bulls of the American Athletic Conference. It will begin at 11:00 AM CST and air on ESPN. It will be one of the 2017–18 bowl games that will conclude the 2017 FBS football season.[2]
Teams
The game will feature the Texas Tech Red Raiders against the South Florida Bulls and will be the first-ever meeting between the two schools.[3]

South Florida Bulls

South Florida is the defending Birmingham Bowl champion, having defeated the South Carolina Gamecocks 46-39 in overtime. This will be the Bulls' third Birmingham Bowl; in addition to last year's victory, the Bulls had previously defeated defeated the East Carolina Pirates 24-7 in the inaugural game in 2006 (when it was known as the PapaJohns.com Bowl),
