54 Arietis (abbreviated 54 Ari) is a star in the northern constellation of Aries. 54 Arietis is the Flamsteed designation. It has an apparent visual magnitude of 6.26. Based upon an annual parallax shift of 4.26 ± 0.73 mas,[1] it is approximately 766 light-years (235 parsecs) distant from Earth. The brightness of the star is diminished by 0.15[5] in magnitude from extinction caused by interstellar gas and dust. This is a red giant star with a stellar classification of M0 III, and is evolving along the asymptotic giant branch.[6] It varies slightly in brightness, with a periodicity of 6.2 days and an amplitude change of 0.0096 in magnitude.[3]
