AFFCO Holdings Limited, commonly referred to as AFFCO or "Auckland Farmers Freezing Company", is New Zealand's fourth largest meat processor, having been in operations since 1904. AFFCO has been largely owned by Talleys group since 2007 and is one of the few remaining Talleys owned companies to employ unionised workers at their plants. AFFCO has nine plants across New Zealand.

Moerewa (ME47)
Situated in the Bay of Islands, was completely rebuilt in 1993 and is equipped with modern processing equipment. This site also has a Rendering Plant. AFFCO Moerewa produces a full range of vacuum packed prime beef, bulk manufacturing beef, Lamb, Mutton And Goat chilled and frozen cuts and Veal cuts during the calf season. AFFCO Moerewa also produces a full range of offal from all the species processed on the site. And also Meat and Bone Meal and Tallow from its rendering plant And Calf Serum from its calf slaughter department.
AFFCO Moerewa has ISO 9002 certification and HACCP approval by MAF. It is certified for Halal slaughter and regularly audited by the USDA and EU.

Horotiu (ME43)
AFFCO Horotiu has been extensively refurbished to maintain its pre-eminent position in the meat export industry. In 2005 the plant was rebuilt at a cost of NZ$18m and is now one of the most modern beef plant in the Southern Hemisphere. Situated in the Waikato, New Zealand's largest dairy farming region, Horotiu is one of the largest beef slaughter and processing facilities in New Zealand. On the same site is AFFCO Horotiu's Rendering Plant. This manufacturing operation processes a sought after range of Protein Meals and Tallows which are exported to Asia. Meat and Bone Meal is used as an ingredient for Poultry Feed and Tallow is used in the manufacture of Soap.

Rangiuru (ME56)
Situated in the Bay of Plenty, is a modern equipped, multi species processing facility. This site has a Rendering plant. AFFCO Rangiuru produces a full range of vacuum packed prime beef, vacuum packed Venison, bulk manufacturing beef, Lamb and Mutton chilled and frozen cuts and Veal cuts during the calf season. AFFCO Rangiuru also produces a full range of offal from all the species processed on the site. And also Meat and Bone Meal and Tallow from its rendering plant.

Wairoa (ME42)
The Wairoa site was incorporated into AFFCO's operation in 1990, following the purchase of the North Island assets of Waitaki International. Strategically situated between Napier and Gisborne amongst one of New Zealand’s best regions for producing prime livestock Wairoa Lamb and Beef is sought after by customers around the globe. The plant is a major employer in Wairoa with many of its staff long serving members.

Imlay (ME39)
Situated in the city of Wanganui, is a modern equipped, Ovine/Calf processing facility. This site has a Rendering plant. AFFCO Imlay produces a full range of Lamb and Mutton chilled and frozen cuts and Veal cuts during the calf season. AFFCO Imlay also produces a full range of offal from all the species processed on the site. And also Ovine or mixed Meat and Bone Meal and Tallow from its rendering plant.

Manawatu (ME32)
Situated in the outskirts of Feilding, was totally rebuilt in 1992. It is AFFCO's smallest site specialising in beef processing and is a major supplier of chilled product to Japan. AFFCO Manawatu has ISO 9002 certification and HACCP approval by MAF. It is certified for Halal slaughter and is regularly audited by the USDA and EU (offal production).

Awarua (SPM51)
South Pacific Meats Limited - Joint ownership with Talleys Fisheries Limited, Motueka. The South Pacific Meats plant was opened in September 2005 and is the latest addition to the AFFCO Network. Designed and built with ultra modern meat processing gear this new plant is located in the province of Southland amongst New Zealand’s premier lamb producers. Sourcing high quality lamb from Southland will give AFFCO valuable additional supplies to service their global customer base. Showing its independence and newness rather than being known internationally by the traditional reference of an ME ( Meat Export Plant) this plant is registered with NZFSA and other international authorities as SPM51 - South Pacific Meats Limited, Invercargill.

Napier
Cattle hides are transported from our processing sites to AFFCO's premier bovine tannery located in Napier. Hides are passed through a 40-hour, 88-step process, converting raw hides to an original axiomatic wet blue tannage. This customised product is sold directly to Tanners in Italy, China and Thailand involved in the processing of leather for the global automobile, upholstery, and aviation industries.

Wiri
Wiri is AFFCO's specialist ovine tannery. Pelts are sent from our processing sites to Wiri every year and turned into high quality material for the leather industry. Wet Blue Tannage is customised to market styles with modern technology, utilising advanced processing methods. Unique objective measurement and grading technology ensures guaranteed square footage and a product sought after for transformation into fashion garments.

AFFCO is the subject of a song by New Zealand band The Skeptics which is best known for its music video that includes graphic scenes of animal slaughter.
