Abdul Basith (volleyball)

Abdul Basith was a captain of the India men's national volleyball team team. He was a member of the team that won the bronze medal in the 1986 Seoul Asian games, beating Japan.
Born in Hyderabad, he was known for his humbleness, gentlemanly conduct, fair play, and tall frame. Basith was awarded the Arjuna Award in 1989.[citation needed] In 1991 Basith was killed accidentally due to electrocution. As a result of his abrupt death, the Abdul Basith Memorial Volleyball Tournament was founded in his memory.
Abdul Basith Siddiqui's family live in Hyderabad India.
