Austin Stacks is a hurling and Gaelic football club based in Tralee in County Kerry, Ireland.[1] It has more All-Ireland Senior Football Championship medals and GAA All-Stars than any other GAA club in Ireland.[2] They have many notable players at the top of the rock such as Joe Barrett, Mikey Sheehy, Ger Power, John O'Keeffe, Cork's Dinny Long, Pa Laide, William Kirby, Kieran Donaghy (who won player of the year after leading Kerry to success in 2006) and Daniel Bohan. The club is named after Austin Stack, Irish revolutionary and captain of the All-Ireland winning Kerry Gaelic football team of 1904. They are the only club in Kerry to have won Senior County Championships in both Hurling & Football, including doubles in 1928 & 1931. Currently the club have three players on the Kerry Senior Panel; Kieran Donaghy(4 All-Ireland Medals), Shane O'Callaghan and Fearghal MacNamara. Daniel Bohan last appeared for Kerry in 2013 and is a holder of three All-Ireland Medals. Stacks are currently in Division 1 of the Kerry County League while they also have a "B" team in Division 5.

Currently

The club has prospered off the field in recent years, the new state of the art dressing rooms were opened in 2005. Along with the dressing rooms the building contains a function room, and a top quality gym. The playing pitch itself underwent major surgery in the winter and summer of 2007 and although the finishing touches are yet to be put in place, it is evident that the pitch has improved. The club have now started a new "Rockie Revolution" scheme aimed at fundraising enough money to buy land next to the club's ground. On the field however the club has been starved of success lately. The team is in transition but continues to under perform. Despite this, the Stacks remain competitive in every fixture of every competition and with the average age of the starting team of this year's[when?] championship at only 22.3 years of age the future is bright. The current senior team are managed by William Kirby and Wayne Quillinan. The youths in the club are doing very well with high numbers in all age groups. Town rivals include Kerins O'Rahilly's, John Mitchels, St.Pats, Ballymacelligott, Churchill and Na Gaeil. The black and amber colours of the club are known throughout Ireland. The current chairman of the club is Aidan O'Connor. The current club captain is TJ Hogan.[citation needed]

They are the current[when?] holders of the Kerry Co. League Division 1 Title winning the league decider in Dingle in 2011. They were relegated for the first time ever to Division 2 of the Co.League in 2008. They then won Division 2 in 2010 backing that up by claiming the Division 1 crown the following and first season back at the top level, only one of a select few teams to do so. They club are building for the future having run the winners of the last three County Championship's down to the wire in the last three seasons, South Kerry in 2009 and Dr. Crokes in 2010 and 2011 only losing by the minimum. The current squad is a young one with most of the squad under 23 years of age, aided by a few more experienced players with Inter County experience such as Kieran Donaghy, Daniel Bohan and William Kirby. They club have had many players on the Kerry underage teams in the past years including players who started for the Kerry minor team since 2007; Barry Shanahan, Wayne Guthrie, Denis McElligott, Shane Carroll, Fearghal MacNamara, Daragh O'Brien, Greg Horan, Conor Jordan, Joe O'Kelly, Jack Morgan and Seán Ryan. Graham O'Connell was part of the Kerry u-21 panel that claimed the All-Ireland crown in 2008.
