The Champion Jockey of flat racing in Great Britain is the jockey who has ridden the most winning horses during a season. The list below shows the Champion Jockey and the number of winners for each year since 1840.[1] The seasonal record of jockeys' winners was published for the first time in 1846.[2] The championship was sponsored for the first time in 2009 by online casino 32Red and is currently sponsored by Stobart Group. The 2015 title is decided by the number of winners ridden between 2 May and 17 October, in both turf and all-weather racing.[3] Prior to 2015 the title was decided over the full length of the Flat turf season, from March to November, and carried no prize money to the winner. A prize of £25,000 to the champion jockey was also introduced as part of the 2015 changes.[4]
