Carnival Sensation (formerly Sensation) is a Fantasy-class cruise ship operated by Carnival Cruise Line. Built by Kværner Masa-Yards at its Helsinki New Shipyard in Helsinki, Finland, she was floated out on November, 1, 1993, and christened Sensation by four Carnival Vice Presidents: Vicki L. Freed, Roberta Jacoby, Cherie Weinstein and Geri Donnelly.[1][2]

During 2007, in common with all of her Fantasy-class sisters, she had the prefix Carnival added to her name.[3]

The third ship to be built in the Fantasy class, Carnival Sensation returned to active cruise service on February 12, 2009, after an extensive drydocking and refit. During the refit, 98 private balconies were added to former ocean view rooms. An adults only sunning area called Serenity was added to Promenade Deck, aft. A children's water park area was installed on Verandah Deck, aft, in an area formerly used as a pool and sunning area. The Carnival Sensation's main pool area on Lido Deck, midship, was renovated and the water slide was removed. Other renovations included new carpeting in public spaces and in her main dining rooms, and a 4-story tall "Carnival Waterworks" waterslide was added at the aft of the ship.

Today, the Carnival Sensation does 3 and 4 night cruises out of Port Canaveral, Florida to Nassau, Bahamas and Freeport, Bahamas. The Carnival Sensation will be moving to Miami replacing the Carnival Victory in early 2016 doing the 4 and 5 night cruises. The Carnival Victory will be taking over the 3 and 4 night cruises to Nassau, Bahamas and Freeport.

Carnival Sensation chartered

The Carnival Sensation was one of several cruise ships chartered by the US Government to provide accommodation for refugees and relief workers following Hurricane Katrina.[citation needed] After being released from Federal Emergency Management Agency service, the Carnival Sensation began cruising from Port Canaveral, replacing the Carnival Fantasy on Carnival's 3 and 4 day cruises from Port Canaveral. The Carnival Sensation will be moving to Miami replacing the Carnival Victory in early 2016 doing the 4 and 5 night cruises. The Carnival Victory will be taking over the 3 and 4 night cruises to Nassau, Bahamas and Freeport.

Evolutions of Fun upgrade

The Carnival Sensation recently underwent refurbishments making it the fourth ship to receive it, giving it a 9-hole mini golf course, a children's water park area with waterslides and splash park, and a "serenity" adult-only deck.[citation needed]
