The acronym SISL (pronounced Sizzle) initially stood for Southwest Indoor Soccer League and Sunbelt Independent Soccer League. Southwest Independent Soccer League. The SISL was later renamed the USISL before becoming the United Soccer Leagues. The Sunbelt league was also part of what would become the United Soccer Leagues.
