Dr. Mohan’s Diabetes Specialities Centre is a diabetes speciality hospital chain in Southern India headquartered in Chennai, Tamil Nadu. Its one of the India’s leading diabetes care providers offering complete diabetic services.[1] In the year 1991, Dr V. Mohan along with his wife Dr Rema started this diabetes centre as a private limited company with 4 consultant doctors which now has grown to 20 centres and more than 1000 staff.[2][3] This diabetes speciality hospital is known for waging a war against the diabetes in the country.[4][5] Dr. Mohan’s Diabetes Specialities Centre is the collaboration centre for World Health Organisation on Non Communicable Diseases Prevention and Control.[6][7]

Founder

Dr V. Mohan born on 1954 in a small town of North Pudur in Kerala. He worked with his father M Viswanathan as a diabetologist and a researcher till 1990 at MV Hospital and Diabetes Research Centre, Chennai which was started by his father. Later, in 1991 he started this diabetes hospital.

Dr. Mohan's Diabetes Specialities Centre now has 20 diabetes centres and clinics in southern India (9 centres in Chennai, 2 centres in Vellore[9] , 3 centres in Hyderabad and 1 centre each in Coimbatore,[10] Madurai,[11] Pondicherry, Chunampet[12] and Bhubaneswar). and one international centre at Muscat in Oman and over 360,000 diabetic patients have been registered at these centres.

Achievements & Awards

  • Dr. Mohan’s Diabetes Specialities Centre is the Best Diabetes Endocrine Hospital in India for the second time at CNBC-TV18 Health Care Awards 2013.[13][14][15]
  • Dr. Mohan's Diabetes Specialities Centre is the first diabetes centre in India to offer bariatric surgery.[16]
  • Dr V. Mohan founder of DMDSC, is a recipient of national award Padma Shri from the Government of India.[17] This diabetes center is known for waging a war against the diabetes (silent disease) in the country.[18][19]
