Diplomatic relations of United States are conducted in India through USA's permanent diplomatic mission in New Delhi. The U.S. Embassy in India is headed by the U.S. Ambassador to India. It is situated in New Delhi's Chanakyapuri area, where most of the embassies are located.

Designed by U.S. architect Edward Durell Stone, its planning began in the early 1950’s and was completed in 1959. The embassy complex includes the Chancery, the Roosevelt House (official residence of the U.S. Ambassador), office space and living accommodations.[2]

United States also has its consulates in Mumbai, Hyderabad, Chennai and Kolkata, all of which are associated with the U.S. Embassy in New Delhi.[3]
