Flymore was a nu metal band, formed in Ivanovo, Russia. Since early 2013, it became officially international with two Swedish members joining the band. Numerous critics are fixated on the band's heavy influence by Korn, which the band members do not dispute. They state that, while they are inspired by the nu metal genre, they are yet strongly devoted to Old School Nu-Metal.

History

Igor Mukhin and Denis Rybakov were the first members of the band, having met in 2002. "Millennium" - which was the band's original name - started in Igor Mukhins's bedroom studio, where they started producing and rehearsing the band's first material. They spent a lot of their free time playing music by bands like Nirvana and Green Day. Millennium’s early material was comparable to acts like Limp Bizkit, Nirvana and Rage Against The Machine. Both Mukhin and Rybakov wanted to take it further than what they had accomplished at that time. They recruited drummer Dmitriy Kurin and a singer named Frozt, who left his band to try something new with Millennium. The band made their debut gig at Ivanovo's Rock Club. From that moment, Millennium used any opportunity they could get to play with other local bands which ultimately increased their fan base. Eventually, they landed a show at Moscow's legendary annual music contest Rock in the Fire in 2004. A year later, Dmitriy was dropped from the band due to its dissatisfaction with him and his alcohol addiction.

In 2005, the band took notice of drummer Serj Kulikov after seeing his band Tvorok perform, and tried to convince him to join Millennium. Serj initially had no desire to join the band and declined. Soon thereafter, as Tvorok's guitarist quit the band, Serj decided to also leave and become Millennium's new drummer.

The band was soon notified that the name “Millennium" was already taken so they changed it to Flymore. Igor had the idea of inviting his friend Nik to a jam session as a second guitarist and the band members liked him; so after some deliberations, they began playing together. The band started performing live shows and writing new material, and in 2008, Flymore recorded their full-length debut LP “Millennium 45” with producer Dmitriy Taravkov, which was released in 2009.

Dmitriy has previously worked with a lot of famous Russian metal acts. Flymore stayed in Moscow for three months and worked on more than 20 songs with Dmitriy at Mosfilm Studio. Together they chose 12 of their songs to create final products that best reflected the group's style.

Since 2007 Flymore was touring nationwide and performing at all rock festivals all over the former USSR: Russia, Ukraine, Belarus. In order to promote its Millenium IV V LP, the band went for a month-long tour in Great Britain where the LP was officially released.

In pursuit of greater opportunities to make themselves known, the band resettled in the USA for a longer period of time, which is when some of its Russian members left the band, who were replaced by Swedish and American members shortly thereafter.

Style

Flymore epitomizes perfectly old-school Nu-Metal. The band uses many influences from music genres that evolved in the 1990s. As they worked on their debut album Millennium IV V, they refined a sound that fuses elements of Dark Wave, Industrial Metal, and atmospheric music styles with the more raw energy of nu metal. Flymore's current dream is to have a significant impact on the advancement of nu metal.

Although born Russian, the band yet sings in English. This is also a sign of devotion to the style. Flymore members consider: <templatestyles src="Template:Blockquote/styles.css" />

"Russian language is the best suited for the genre of cold Russian Rock Style, that emerged in St.Petersburg after the Soviet Union collapse, but nu metal was born in the US and uses English, and we should stick to it, if we wish to keep it genuine."

Some music commentators note that Flymore’s compositions are saturated with rigid guitar riffs, cyclic structures used in Industrial music, dry vocals enmeshed in hoarse brutality, and pure intensity. “It reminds them of Jonathan Davis, - they say, - though, thanks God, it’s not Davis.”

The new EP has come out in the US in February 2013. Its compositions differ from the previous album by their brutal sensitivity, guitar drive, wider variation in themes. And still the major principle for the Flymore band is the nu metal. It is to preserve and to expand the style in its primordial form. Musicians experiment with «tasty» rock sounds in their new works, express a fat energy and a deep emotions with the help of music, they look for inspiration in a sound density, symmetry of harmony and in the performance quality itself.

Mascot

Flymore has a motto 'If you want to fly then FlyMore'. At the same time the band's mascot is not flying as a human activity but A Fly. At least one fly appears at any official video of the band and presents on each poster, on merch. The mascot is rooted from Igor Muchin's nickname FLY: which comes from translating of his family name from Russian into English.
