Ghent /ˈɛnt/ is a census-designated place (CDP) in Raleigh County in the U.S. state of West Virginia. As of the 2010 census, its population was 457.[2]

On January 30, 2007, the Flat Top Little General Store (a local convenience store) on U.S. Route 19 exploded, killing four people and injuring several others, near the Winterplace Ski Resort.[3]

Climate

The climate in this area has mild differences between highs and lows, and there is adequate rainfall year round. According to the Köppen Climate Classification system, Ghent has a marine west coast climate, abbreviated "Cfb" on climate maps.[4]

The small community is also accompanied by 3 local churches,Ghent elementary school,the local fire department and post office, 2 general stores, a small locally owned restaurant,two small rental stores, The Ski barn and The Ski Shop as well as a hotel.It is located directly off the exit to Ghent and is known as a small well knit community of friends and families.
