Gibault Catholic High School is a private, Roman Catholic high school in Waterloo, Illinois. It is located in the Roman Catholic Diocese of Belleville.
Contents
History
Gibault Catholic was established in 1946 as St. Peter and Paul School.[2] It was later rennamed in honor of Father Pierre Gibault.
Sports
Alumnus John Rheinecker played for the Texas Rangers during the 2006 and 2007 seasons.
In 2013, the Boys Baseball team won its first state championship, defeating Putnam County for the Class 1A State Title.[3]
Gibault won three consecutive state championships in soccer between 2005–2007, followed with a 3rd-place finish in 2008 and a 2nd-place finish in 2009. Former head soccer coach, Jim Corsi, has recently been inducted into Illinois High School Association coaches' Hall of Fame.[4]
