Jon Worsnop (born 13 January 1983 in Bradford, West Yorkshire), is an English football goalkeeper who plays for Chester.
Career
Worsnop started his career at hometown club Bradford City. He spent his early career as an unused substitute in the 2000–01 Premier League season, spending brief spells on loan at Rushden & Diamonds and Hull City. Worsnop made his Bradford City debut in a Championship game with a 3–1 victory over Rotherham United in 2001,[1] before signing for Chester City in 2002 making only one league start in February 2002.[2][3]
Worsnop signed for FC United of Manchester in 2011 as back up goalkeeper before making the number one spot his own.
He then signed for Alfreton Town, originally as loan cover for injured Ross Atkins and played in the 3–1 win over Kidderminster Harriers.[4] Worsnop went on to play 23 games and become supporters player of the year.[citation needed]
Worsnop signed for Chester in 2014.[5] He had the worst possible start to his season, getting beat 5–0 on the first day of the season. As a result Worsnop lost his place. After four games, however, he regained his place and after some good displays has gone on to retain it.
December 2014, saw Chester reach the second round of the FA Cup against Barnsley hodling them to a 0–0 draw.[6] Worsnop played from the fifth minute with a broken cheekbone.[7]
At the start of the 2015–16 season, Worsnop was appointed as Chester's vice captain.[8]
