Karl Bitar

Lua error in package.lua at line 80: module 'strict' not found. Karl Bitar is a former National Secretary of the Australian Labor Party who succeeded Tim Gartrell.

Before Bitar became the National Secretary, he was the General Secretary for the NSW branch from December 2007 to October 2008, and Assistant General Secretary between 2004 and the end of 2007. He also served as an organizer between 1999 and 2004.

Bitar was the NSW Campaign Director for Labor at the 2007 federal election.

He is of Lebanese descent and is a Melkite Catholic.[1]

Bitar resigned as National Secretary on 16 March 2011.[2]

Bitar is currently employed by Crown Limited as Executive Vice President, Group Marketing and Brand Strategy.
