Kishwaukee College, located west of Malta, Illinois, is the community college for Illinois Community College district 523. It serves most of DeKalb County, much of Lee and Ogle Counties, and small parts of other adjoining counties.[1][2]

History

The college was founded in 1968.

Campus

The campus is rural in nature, and is surrounded on all four sides by corn fields.

Organization and administration

The college president is Thomas L. Choice.

Academic profile

The college is fully accredited by the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools. The student population is approximately 11,000.

Student life

Kishwaukee College publishes the Kamelian, a literary and arts magazine, each spring. The Kamelian, first published in 1968, is the only Illinois literary arts magazine to have won three awards in the Community College Humanities Association National Literary Magazine Competition since 2000.

Sport

The Kishwaukee College sports teams compete as the Kougars. The Kougars have won national championships in baseball (1999) and volleyball (2001,2002,2006,2007,2008).
