Kurtis O. Guthrie[1] (born 21 April 1993) is a professional footballer from Jersey, who plays as a striker for Forest Green Rovers.

Career

Guthrie started off playing local football in Jersey playing for Le Rocquier School developing his talent through the junior ranks at St Clement Sports Club. He then broke into the St Clement first team in the 2009–10 season,[2] moving onto Trinity mid way through 2010–11.[3]

He was handed a one-year contract at Accrington Stanley for the 2011–12 season after a successful trial period at the club.[4]

He made his Football League debut on 6 August 2011 against Northampton Town.[5]

On 24 November 2011, it was announced that Guthrie had joined Conference National side Southport on a month long loan deal.[6]

He rejoined Accrington Stanley on 5 January 2012 having made five appearances and scored one goal for Southport. In May 2012, Guthrie was released from Accrington after being told his contract would not be renewed.[7]

In August 2012, Guthrie signed for Conference South side Bath City on a short-term deal[8] and scored a hat-trick for the club on his home debut, in a match against Maidenhead United.[9] He left the club in October having scored six goals in 13 appearances.[10]

In November he joined Welling United.[11]

In May 2014, he signed for Forest Green Rovers on a two-year deal.[12][13] He made his debut for the club as a substitute in a 2–1 win against Chester.[14] His first start came on 11 October 2014 as he played the full 90 minutes for Forest Green in a 1–1 draw with Gateshead.[15] He scored his first goal for the club in a 3–3 away draw against Torquay United on 15 November 2014, going on to score another goal in a dramatic draw.[16] He was a part of the Forest Green side who reached the Conference National play-offs for the first time at the end of the 2014–15 season, starting in both semi-final matches against Bristol Rovers.[17]

After ending the 2015-16 season as Forest Green's second highest goal scorer on 12 goals, he was a part of the team that reached the National League 2015-16 play-off final at Wembley Stadium, only to miss out on promotion to the Football League in a 3-1 defeat to Grimsby Town.[18]

International

On 22 March 2016, Guthrie made his debut for the England C team in an away international against Ukraine where he started and scored the first goal in a 2–0 win.[19]
