The Lake Pedder planarian, Romankenkius pedderensis, is a species of invertebrate in the Dugesiidae family.[2]
Distribution and conservation status
It was endemic to the Lake Pedder area in Tasmania, Australia prior to its flooding in 1972 for a hydro-electric power scheme. Since 1986 this species has been considered extinct by the IUCN Red List of Threatened Species.[1] However, recently collected specimens of this species were described in 2006.[3] The ongoing existence of the species was confirmed in 2012.[4]
