Lauriya (Vidhan Sabha constituency) (Hindi: लौरिया विधान सभा निर्वाचन क्षेत्र) is an assembly constituency in Paschim Champaran district in the Indian state of Bihar. It was earlier reserved for scheduled castes.
Overview
As per orders of Delimitation of Parliamentary and Assembly constituencies Order, 2008, 5. Lauriya (Vidhan Sabha constituency) is composed of the following: Yogapatti community development block; and Siswania, Kataiya, Marahiya Pakari, Mathia, Lauriya, Belwa Lakhanpur, Gobaraura, Bahuarwa, Dhobani Dharampur, Dhamaura, Daniyal Prasauna, Sathi, Singhpur Satawaria, Basantpur and Baswariya Parautola gram panchayats of Lauriya CD Block.[1]
Lauriya (Vidhan Sabha constituency) is part of 1. Valmiki Nagar (Lok Sabha constituency).[1]It was earlier part of Bagaha (Lok Sabha constituency).
Election results
1977-2010
In the November 2010 state assembly elections, Vinay Bihari won the 5 Lauria assembly seat defeating his nearest rival Pradeep Singh of JDU. Contests in most years were multi cornered but only winners and runners are being mentioned. Pradeep Singh of JD(U) defeated Shambhu Tiwari of BSP in October 2005 and February 2005. Vishwa Mohan Sharma of INC defeated Ran Vijaya Shahi of RJD in 2005. Ran Vijay Shahi representing JD defeated Vishwa Mohan Sharma of Congress in 1995 and 1990. Vishwa Mohan Sharma of Congress defeated Ram Prasad Yadav of LD in 1985, Ajaj Ahmad of Janata Party (JP) in 1980 and Binay Shankar Singh of Janata Party in 1977.[2][3]
