Lip Sync Battle Philippines is a Filipino musical-reality competition television series broadcast by GMA Network. Hosted by Michael V. and Iya Villania, the show premiered on February 27, 2016 succeeding Celebrity Bluff. It is the Philippine version of the American reality television series under the same title.[1]
Overview
Lip Sync Battle Philippines debuted on GMA Network, last February 27, 2016. It is presented by award-winning comedian Michael V. with TV host-actress Iya Villania as the color commentator.
The show is an adaptation of the hit American TV series, Lip Sync Battle. The game pits two Kapuso celebrities against each other in a lip sync battle for two rounds: Round 1 is the ‘Strip Down’ and Round 2 is the ‘Full Blown Concert.’ The celebrities can lip sync the song/s of their choice. Then the crowd determines the winner of the battle after the two rounds have been completed.[2]
The winner gets the bragging rights to be the Lip Sync Champion and gets the Lip Sync Champion Belt to be given by the color commentator, Iya Villania. Dennis Trillo was the first battler to receive the championship belt.[3]
During the third episode of the first season, the show had their very first tag team battle with the Kapuso comedians, Betong Sumaya and John Feir battling Gladys Guevarra and Pekto which later won by the latter.[4] This tag team battle has never happened in the original show making this episode the first in the history of Lip Sync Battle.
