The M3 is a motorway that links the city of Faisalabad with the M2 motorway. The M3 will eventually become an important link connecting southern Pakistan with the north. It is only 53 km long making it the shortest motorway of Pakistan. It has 2 junctions in between.

Route

The M3 starts at Pindi Bhattian, a small town located at almost mid of M2(Lahore-Islamabad). It then passes Southwest and ends in Faisalabad,on (Faisalabad-Sargodha) road. The whole stretch of the M3 consists of 4 lanes with no rest areas along the route. However there is a gas station on both sides of the carriageways.

This project was completed under the government of Pakistan Muslim League in October 2003 earlier than it was expected.The then Punjab Assembly Speaker Chaudhry Afzal Sahi and Chief Minister Chaudhry Pervez Elahi are said to have played vital role for its quick completion.

Interesting facts

• The M3 is Pakistan's shortest motorway. On the completion of M3, Route from Faisalabad to Rawalpindi reduced about 8 hours to 3 hours. It is a notable point that many products (e.g. vegetable, fruit, hosiery & cotton products) are traded through M-3. Faisalabad is also known as the Manchester of Pakistan. M3 has made it quick to dispatch products to Rawalpindi, Peshawar and Azad Kashmir.
