Like most Melbourne tram routes, route 16 operates entirely in Myki Zone 1. The 20.2 kilometre route is operated by Z and D class trams from Malvern depot.

History

The current route 16 commenced operating on 17 October 2004, when route 16 Melbourne University to St Kilda Beach was combined with route 69 St Kilda Beach to Kew.
