The Montgomery County Sheriff's Office (MCSO) is a nationally accredited American law enforcement agency and acts as the enforcement arm of the courts in Montgomery County, Maryland. All deputy sheriffs are fully certified law enforcement officials with full authority of arrest.[1]

Organization
Nationally accredited in 1995, the current Sheriff is Darren M. Popkin. The MCSO has authorized over 165 employees consisting of sworn law enforcement officers and civilian support staff.[3]
History
Created in 1777, the MCSO is the oldest law enforcement agency in Montgomery County.[4]
