Legacy

The film was also dubbed into Tamil as Nijam, and then again in 2012 as Seerum Singam.[1] The film was dubbed as Meri Adalat in Hindi and remade as Arjuna in Oriya starring Anubhab Mohanty and Gargi Mohanty.

Reception and Collections

The film received average ratings from viewers as well as critics upon its release. Idlebrain Jeevi in his review gave a rating of 3.0 out of 5.0 for the movie with concluding remarks "Over all, it's an average film that has chances to become hit because of the Teja's mass-attracting episodes and Mahesh Babu's brilliant portrayal of the character".[2] However the film maintains a cult status and is considered to be one of the best performances in Mahesh's career. Director Teja in an interview said "We made Nizam in a budget of 6.5 cr INR; We sold audio rights for 2 cr INR and movie initially were sold for a total of 26 cr INR. However, we had to return some of the money to the distributors, since the movie did not reach the expectations of the business circles. In total, we still made a profit of 5-6 cr INR and Nijam was not a flop".[3] Nijam recovered around 10 cr INR as a distributor share in the overall run and completed 50 days in 41 centers.[4]
