Prana Krushna Parija was born on April 1, 1891,[1] at Balikuda, Jagatsinghpur, Odisha.[2][3] He was a Botanist, academician and former Vice chancellor of Utkal University [4] . He worked as a principal in Ravenshaw University (formerly Ravenshaw College), Cuttack [5] ,[6]Pro Vice-Chancellor of Banaras Hindu University, Varanasi[7] and Vice-Chancellor of Utkal University, Bhubaneswar .[8] The "Parija Library" of the university is named after him. [9] He was working as a scientist for agricultural development in Orissa.[6][10] He was an elected member of the Odisha Legislative Assembly.[11]
Awards and recognitions
- Fearnsides Scholarship (1918), Trinity College, Cambridge, a scholarship to encourage clinical research in the field of organic diseases of the nervous system.[12]
