It is a new constituency, created in 2008 as a part of the implementation of the delimitation of the parliamentary constituencies based on the recommendations of the Delimitation Commission of India constituted on 12 July 2002.[2][3] The constituency first held elections in 2009 and its first member of parliament was Anant Geete of Shiv Sena who was also re-elected in the 2014 elections. As of 2014, Geete (who is also the Minister of Heavy Industries and Public Enterprises)[4] represents this constituency in the Lok Sabha.
