The Rewari–Rohtak line is a railway line that connects Rewari and Rohtak in India. Train services on this line were initiated on 8 January 2013.[1]

Overview

It is part of a new rail line that was a built as per demand of service. According to the local MP Deepender Singh Hooda, it is the first new railway project in Haryana in thirty-three years.[1] A new DEMU train has been started and there is also a demand that another train from Rohtak to Rewari be introduced that will return to Rohtak in the evening.[2][3][4][5][6]

Construction

The project was sanctioned in 2004–2005 with an estimated cost of 4.76 billion (US$71 million). The total cost of laying the line is estimated to be 6.02 billion (US$89 million).[7] Construction began on 7 October 2007.[8] The building of the rail line involved the construction of 75 kilometres (47 mi) of new rail line, 124 bridges over canals, drains and irrigation water courses, 36 level crossings, 32 limited height subways and 4 bridges over roads.[1]
