Rob Nelson (born June 5, 1978) is a weekend morning anchor and weekday reporter at WABC-TV. Nelson co-anchored the overnight news programs World News Now and America This Morning on ABC with various co-anchors, including Vinita Nair,[2] Peggy Bunker,[3] Tanya Rivero,[4] Yunji De Nies,[5] Paula Faris,[6] Diana Perez[7] and frequent fill-in Sunny Hostin.[citation needed] Nelson left on March 15, 2013.[8] He originally joined ABC on July 12, 2010.[1] John Muller succeeded Nelson as co-anchor of "World News Now"; Nelson's enormous popularity led to him becoming a regular fill-in for Muller. In January 2014, Nelson joined WABC-TV as co-anchor of the weekend morning newscasts, replacing Phil Lipof.

Before coming to ABC, Nelson had been an anchor for WWL-TV in New Orleans, and worked for the newspaper Times-Picayune.[9]

He is a native of southern New Jersey and a graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.[1]
