Scotty McKnight (born February 11, 1988) is a former American football wide receiver. He was drafted by the New York Jets in the seventh round of the 2011 NFL Draft. He played college football at Colorado.

Early years
McKnight was born in Newport Beach, California on February 11, 1988. During his senior year at Tesoro High School, McKnight was nearly expelled after writing in a private journal entry for a class assignment that contained alleged death threats directed towards his young, female teacher.[1] McKnight did not deny the journal and conceded the entry was a lapse in judgement but, he did state that the matter was a misunderstanding.[1] The school suspended McKnight indefinitely while an investigation was conducted and he missed the football team's final eight games of the season.[1]
College career
McKnight was a walk-on at the University of Colorado. He finished his career there with the school's all-time records for receiving touchdowns and receptions. He finished with 215 catches, 2,521 yards, and 22 receiving touchdowns.[2]

New York Jets
McKnight was drafted by the New York Jets in the seventh round of the 2011 NFL Draft.[2] McKnight joined best friend Mark Sanchez, whom McKnight has known since he was eight years old.[2] McKnight signed a four-year contract on July 29, 2011.[4] He was waived on September 2.[5] McKnight was signed to the team's practice squad on September 20.[6] He was placed on the practice squad injured reserve list after suffering a torn ACL on November 1, 2011.[7]
McKnight was re-signed by the Jets on March 20, 2012.[8] He was waived on August 6, 2012.[9]
Personal life
His mother, Cathy, appeared as a contestant on the Food Network's Chopped. McKnight started dating actress Jessica Szohr in April 2015.[10] McKnight is now writing episodes for "CSI" . In 2016, he assumed a false identity in order to catfish the daughter of Howie Rose, Alyssa.
