The Silver Clef Awards is an annual UK music awards lunch which has been running since 1976.

History

The Silver Clef fundraising committee was founded in 1976 by musicians and managers from across the British music industry, who wanted to honour and award music artists whilst raising funds for Nordoff Robbins. The event went on to become the annual Silver Clef Awards and Luncheon, an important date in the social and business calendar of the music industry, with even members of the Royal Family attending as guests of honour. The luncheon is also the flagship event in the highly respected and well-known diary of fundraising events put on by Nordoff Robbins. The Silver Clef initiative eventually expanded to the USA, where members of the music community there arranged the first American Silver Clef Award Dinner and Auction in 1989. The funds from that event benefited the Nordoff Robbins Centre for Music Therapy based at New York University.

Iron Maiden were presented with the main award of the day, the O2 Silver Clef by Mark Rylance and Claire Van Kampan, whilst Sir Tom Jones presented Gladys Knight with the Raymond Weil International Award. Rita Ora took home the Vevo Best Female Award, Mark Ronson received the American Express Innovation Award from fellow producer Trevor Horn and Duran Duran collected the Spotify Lifetime Achievement Award. The other winners who were also all there on the day to celebrate included Il Divo (PPL Classical Award), Primal Scream (Investec Icon Award), Jake Bugg (AEG Live Best Male Award), James Bay (Jack Daniel’s Best Newcomer Award), and Kasabian were presented with the Royal Albert Hall Best Group Award. The Live Nation and Ticketmaster Best Live Act Award was collected by Peter Andre on behalf of winners the Arctic Monkeys (not in attendance at the event) which was voted for by members of the public with the support of Ticketmaster, O2 and Music Week.

On July 3 2015, the 40th annual Silver Clef Awards were held at the Grosvenor House Hotel on Park Lane. UK heavy metal band Iron Maiden were awarded the O2 Silver Clef Award for outstanding contribution to UK music.
