Masud Parvez, (known by the stage name Sohel Rana), is a Bangladeshi film actor, director and producer. In 1973, he starred as the lead actor in the movie Masud Rana, appearing under his original name, Masud Parvez.[1] At present, he is a Presidium Member of the Jatiya Party.
He has won two National Film awards in his career. First for Ojante (1996), and second for Sahoshi Manush Chai (2003).[2]
Early life and politics
Rana was born in Dhaka. In 1971, he participated in the war against Pakistan.[3] At present, he is a Presidium Member of the Jatiya Party.[4][5]
Acting career
Rana did not originally aspire to become a film actor but was asked to act in the film Ora Egaro Jon (1972). In 1973, he acted in Masud Rana, playing the role of the hero. In 1974, he took the name Sohel Rana for his stage name. Since then he has been known as Sohel Rana in the Dhallywood film industry. He has acted in many successful films.[6]

Personal life
Rana married medical officer Zeenat Begum on 16 August 1990.[9] Together they have one son - Mashrur Parvez Zibran.
