Solihull Barons [1] are an English ice hockey team from the town of Solihull who play at Solihull Ice Rink on Hobbs Moat Road. They were formed in 2005. They are named after the team of the same name who were formed in 1965, and played at the same ice rink between 1972 and 1996.[2] The Solihull Barons were reformed for the 2000-01 campaign, after their successors, the Coventry Blaze relocated up the road in the Coventry SkyDome Arena. After their four-year exile, the Barons returned to a new look rink themselves, after the Hobs Moat Road venue benefited from a much needed overhaul. But with the £1.8m refurbishment delayed by vandals - and a £75,000 damage repair bill - the grand re-opening was put back until mid-October 2000. However the club were disbanded again just two years later in 2002. From May 2002 to April 2003, Solihull MK Kings played at Hobs Moat Road Rink.[3]
