Szczurkowo [ʂt͡ʂurˈkɔvɔ] (German: Schönbruch) is a village in the administrative district of Gmina Sępopol, within Bartoszyce County, Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship, in northern Poland, at the border of Kaliningrad Oblast of Russia.[1] It lies approximately 12 kilometres (7 mi) north-west of Sępopol, 14 km (9 mi) north-east of Bartoszyce, and 69 km (43 mi) north-east of the regional capital Olsztyn.
Before 1945 the area was part of Germany (East Prussia). Following World War II the native German populace was expelled and replaced by Poles. The initial village is partitioned, the northern area is part of the Kaliningrad Oblast and uninhabited.[2]
