She was born London, United Kingdom to writer and theater actor Partap Sharma, who is originally from Lahore, Punjab, Pakistan and Susan Sharma an English. She has a sister, Namrita. She studied at the London School of Commerce in London [2] affiliated with ICSE and did well academically. She graduated with a distinction and finished her IB on a scholarship, at the United World College of the Adriatic in Italy. Tara Sharma did her B.Sc in Management at the London School of Economics.
Career
After graduating from LSE, she was a financial consultant at Citibank and Accenture. Realizing her latent love for modeling, she did a couple of advertisements for Lakme, Garnier and Pepsi, the latter included a commercial with Shah Rukh Khan and which proved to be a stepping stone into movies.[3]
She debuted in Anupam Kher's Om Jai Jagadish. The movies she appeared in Khosla Ka Ghosla and Page 3 are critically acclaimed, and Saaya and Masti were commercial successes.[citation needed]
Tara's father died in 2011. "Losing my father ... left me devastated and changed my life too. But, I do have a strong belief that no one really goes away and my father will always live in our hearts," she said.[4] She became involved in spreading awareness about good parenting and maternal child care,[5] conceptualizing and starting her show on new-age motherhood, The Tara Sharma Show. The show's first two seasons were successes and the third season debuted on Colors and Nick from 18 October 2013.[6][7] Tara co-produces the show with the 120 Media Collective.[8][9]
