All About Jazz (favourable)[2]

The Way Up is the thirteenth album by the Pat Metheny Group, released in 2005. The album consists of one 68 minute-long piece, split into four tracks solely for CD navigation. The album is a showcase for the band's ability in solo improvisation and dynamics.

Certain elements of the composition seem to be influenced by the works of contemporary composer Steve Reich[citation needed], with whom Pat Metheny has collaborated in the past. Reich is credited on the CD with "very special thanks" along with Eberhard Weber, another musician Metheny has worked with.
