Umberto Vittorio Cavassa

Umberto Vittorio Cavassa (2 September 1890 – 7 June 1972) was an Italian journalist and newspaper editor.

Biography

Umberto Vittorio Cavassa was born in Massa, Tuscany. In 1902, he settled in Chiavari, a city of which he would later became an honorary citizen. After classical studies and a degree in law, he entered journalism in 1924. For a short time he was editor of Il Giornale d'Italia, then joined Il Lavoro in Genoa, of which he became editor in 1943. After the war he was editor of Il Secolo XIX between June 1946 and December 1968.

Cavassa was also known for writing several novels, such as I giorni di Casimiro (1948), Gente diversa (1956) and La gloria che passò (1961).[1]
