All 50 states and The District of Columbia, were part of the 1980 United States presidential election. Illinois voters chose 26 electors to the Electoral College, who voted for President and Vice President.

Illinois was carried by former California Governor Ronald Reagan by 8 points.[1] Despite being the home state of Congressman John B. Anderson, he only won 7.3% of the popular vote, 346,754 votes, and failed to carry any counties. Reagan also grew up in Illinois.
