William Carey International University (WCIU) is a Non-governmental organization Christian University located in Pasadena, California in the United States. Named after missionary Ralph D. Winter. Ralph Winter was the founder of the William Carey International University, U.S. Center for World Mission (USCWM) and the International Society for Frontier Missiology.[1] Ralph Winter was missiologist and Presbyterian missionary who helped pioneer Theological Education by Extension, raised the debate about the role of the church and mission structures and became well known as the advocate for pioneer outreach among unreached people groups.[2] The campus is on the Venture Center a collaborative mission base on a 17-acre campus in Pasadena. WCIU adheres to the Lausanne Covenant. WCIU mission statement is: "To prepares men and women to discover and address the roots of human problems in order to bring God’s blessing to the peoples of the world." WCIU Approach: "The field-based, mentored approach provides for a relationally oriented learning experience for students who work toward a degree on a part-time basis while maintaining active participation in their area of cross-cultural service. Students are not required to attend classes on campus and thus their studies can be undertaken anywhere in the world. The learning experience is designed to promote the application of foundational learning."
William Carey International University Press publishes books on missions.[3]
