Wylie East High School (commonly Wylie East or WEHS) is a public high school located in the city of Wylie, Texas United States and classified as a 5A school by the UIL. It is a part of the Wylie Independent School District located in south central Collin County and serves mostly residents of Wylie and some residents of Sachse. In 2015, the school was rated "Met Standard" by the Texas Education Agency.[2]

History

In 2007 Wylie East High School opened for the 2007-2008 school year. In the school's first year, it served solely the ninth grade students. However the district has previously promised that the class of 2011 (the school's first class) will go to the Wylie High School to graduate. District residents were asked to present suggestions at board meetings in late 2007 on whether to pursue multiple high schools. Wylie East became a 9-12 school after the district voted to go with multiple 9-12 campuses in January 2008. Wylie East began the 2009-2010 school year with freshman and sophomores and the Class of 2012 became the first class to graduate.
