Delhi Public School, Rourkela, (or DPS Rourkela) is an Indian school in the district of Sundergarh, Odisha, Sector-14, Rourkela, Odisha. The school is affiliated to the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), New Delhi. The school is run by the Delhi Public School Society (DPS Society).

The school is one of the mother schools of the DPS Society. It was directly established by the society and not franchised.

The school is affiliated to the CBSE for classes from nursery to XII. The principal is Sidhartha Ratha.

History

The co-aid school was established on 20 August 1992,[clarification needed] in collaboration with the public sector undertaking of the Rourkela Steel Plant of the Steel Authority of India Limited. They provided 16 acres of land and assistance. The school was functioning first in Sector-18 and in 2004 it was shifted to Sector-14, Rourkela.[citation needed]

Facilities

The school has facilities for cricket, football, basketball, tennis, badminton, athletics, etc. Coaches train in these sports. The school provides opportunities for the students to develop their interests in public speaking, quizzing, environment awareness and conservation, dance, music, and art.

The school has a primary resource room, science laboratories, mathematics laboratory, computer rooms with LCD and overhead projector facilities, playgrounds and gardens, audio visual rooms and a library.

There are four computer labs of 48 computers each. The schools has a two-MBPS leased-line Internet connection.

The classrooms are equipped with digital boards and projectors.
