Kings in Exile (French: Les Rois en Exil: Roman Parisien) is a 1878 novel by French writer Alphonse Daudet.
Synopsis
Kings in Exile is the story of some imaginary royals who, after being driven from their countries by revolutions, take refuge in Paris, where they lead a life of intrigue and dissipation. The novel can be read as an allegory on the decline of monarchism in France and the rise of a new society dominated by foreign financial interests.
