Panj peer

Panj Peer (or Panj Pir), the Five Great Saints, mentioned in South Asian (Punjabi) literature[1] are as follows:
- Data Ganj Baksh(Al-Hajveri, of Lahore, Punjab)
- Sheikh Baba Farid Shakarganj (Pakpattan, Punjab)
- Baha'ud din Zakariya (Multan, Punjab)
- Lal Shahbaz Qalandar (Sehwan, Sindh)
- Sayyad Jalaluddin Bukhari 'Laal Shah' also known as Makhdoom Jahaaniyaan (Ucch, Punjab).
These are mentioned in the great love-epic of the Sufi poet Sayyid Waris Shah "Heer Ranjha", which opens with an invocation to these holy sages.
