Trio World Academy was established in 2007 in Sahakara Nagar, Bangalore, India. It is an international day and residential/boarding school offering Cambridge International Examinations, IGCSE, AS, A levels, and ICSE until grade 6. The school is known for its unique way of teaching, which employs a differential learning programme encompassing individual lesson plans for students.[1] It also offers a weekly Boarding facility. TRIO is a candidate school for the IB diploma program and plans to start the IB Primary Years Programme in 2016 .The school is managed by TRIO Vidyakkendra Private Ltd., which is a subsidiary company of MCN group.[2] This group has recently announced plans to invest 100 crores in education by opening two more international schools in South India.[3]

The school represents students from over 32 countries.[4] To promote intercultural understanding and respect, they celebrate various festivals and conduct programs such as Hindi Diwas, Peace Day, Halloween, Christmas,[5] Holi, Diwali, International Yoga Day[6] and International Francophonie Day each year.[7]

To improve environmental awareness among students, the Academy invited renowned professor and Director of National Museum of Natural History Paris, Gilles Boeuf, to talk about the importance of bio-diversity and oceans.[8] They also conduct an annual science fair.[9]

It has recognised university placement in Indian colleges and abroad, including some Ivy League Universities.[10] It is among the few schools to offer TEDEd club and has ties with Alliance française de Bangalore & Royal Society of Chemistry,[11] London.

TRIO emphasizes Art & Design[12] and theatre[13] programs which are used to teach, recap and assess lessons. They are also offered as a extracurricular activities.They also invite story tellers and musicians from across the globe to perform and interact with the children.[14][15][16]

Sports & Extracurricular Activity Achievements

  1. Nikaya of IGCSE got the highest marks in sociology in India, 2015-16 session.[29]
  2. 3rd grade student Raghav Bhatia won gold at the Karnataka State Level Swimming Championship Freestyle Relay in 2015.[30]
  3. Vanessa Job, a teacher at the school, won the World 10k Bangalore women's category in 2014.[31]
  4. 11th grade student Vrushank Balu won the last leg of the South Zone Golf Tour in June 2014.[32]
  5. 4th grade student Arjun Bharat won the World School Chess Trophy in the under 9 category in Singapore [33][34] and Canadian Open Chess Championship in Toronto in 2008.[35]

Community Service

This school is known for its community service across various fields. Community service is an integral part of the curriculum, where students help the community in various ways.

  1. TRIO Students collected waste of approximately 294 kg to create awareness about recycling in Bangaluru. It is supposed to be a Limca Book of record.[36][37]
  2. Students celebrated Diwali with underprivileged children in Bangalore.[38]
  3. Students, using their own money, donated raincoats with reflectors to Bangalore traffic police.[39][40]
  4. Middle school students initiated a grey water harvesting project for water conservation, to help the neighboring Kodigehalli Government School.[41]
  5. Students, teachers and parents donated approximately Rs 20,000 for victims of the April 2015 Nepal earthquake [42]
  6. Taking forward the initiative of the Swatch Bharat program, students developed eco-friendly dustbins that can easily segregate plastic and paper. It was donated to the Sahakar Nagar locality.[43]
  7. Students collected funds for a Government School in Kodigehalli to buy books, shoes and uniforms for underprivileged children, and adopted the school.[44]
  8. The students, with the help of Fair Trade India, made India's largest T-shirt and the world's largest sustainable T-shirt made out of fair trade and organic cotton. It was unveiled at the campus. Approximately 380 kg of cotton seed was used to create a total of 5,140 km length of cotton yarn (well over the 3,643 km distance from Srinagar to Kanyakumari) which weighed about 94 kg.[45][46]
  9. Students participated in World Environment Day with the motto "Save species Save Life" on June 5, 2014 at Cubbon Park.[47]
  10. Students, through a book fair, collected approximately 125,000 for the critical surgery of an abandoned baby girl.[48]
  11. Students raised funds for victims of the 2011 Tohoku earthquake,[49] 2010 Haiti earthquake,[50] and for Jammu & Kashmir flood victims [51]

Preschool

TRIO runs a preschool chain called TRIO TOTS that claims to be one of the Most Spacious Preschools in Bangalore.[52] It was awarded for its "innovation in preschool education" at the World Education Summit 2015 in New Delhi.The award was presented by Deputy CM of New Delhi .[53] It has centers in Sahakar Nagar and HSR Layout.
